Safedin Sajo Beqaj, PhD, HCLD, CC (ABB)

Laboratory Director

Dr. Sajo Beqaj is board certified in molecular diagnostics and licensed as a Bioanalyst and High Complexity Laboratory Director. He has been practicing as a laboratory director since 2005.

Prior to PCL, he served from 2011-2016 as a technical director and principal investigator at Pathology, Inc. Torrance, California. During this time, Dr. Beqaj was responsible for building a successful and efficient clinical laboratory that was later acquired by LabCorp. From 2008-2011 he served as Laboratory Director for Clinical Pathology at DCL Medical Laboratories, Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was responsible for clinical technical operations including development and implementation of new tests and technologies. He held the position of Laboratory Director in molecular diagnostics for Path Group Labs, Nashville, Tennessee from 2005-2008. Prior to his clinical experience, he was a Research Assistant Professor at Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois until 2005.

Dr. Baqaj received his Ph.D. in Pathology from Wayne State University Medical School, Detroit, Michigan. He performed his post-doctoral fellowship at Abbott Laboratories from 2001-2003.

Dr. Beqaj has taught in several academic institutions and has published numerous medical textbook chapters and journal articles. He has conducted clinical trials for several well-known pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies, and has presented various scientific clinical abstracts and presentations. He is a member of several medical and scientific associations including the Association of Molecular Pathology, American Association of Clinical Chemistry, and the Pan Am Society for Clinical Virology. He has served on a number of clinical laboratory regulatory and scientific committees, and has assisted several laboratories and physicians as a Clinical Laboratory Consultant.
